Keep on Top of Your Campaign News

Google AlertsInformation is power, and keeping up with news and what people are saying about you online is important for any political campaign. Google Alerts is a service that notifies you by email when the search term you choose is found on the Web.

To set up a notification, visit the Google Alerts submission form and type in the search term of your choice, such as the name of your campaign or candidate. Select “Comprehensive” as the alert type to ensure you are notified when your search term appears on web sites, blogs, news sites or in Google Groups. Select ‘as-it-happens’ in order to receive the most timely notifications. Then type in your email address and click the ‘create alert’ button.

You will need to verify your alert via email. Once you do that, you’re all set!

Encourage other key personnel to track news as well. Keeping on top of what’s going on is critical to managing a responsive and effective political campaign. Just remember that not all news, particularly local television and small local newspapers, may not have a web presence. They need to be monitored the old-fashioned way.
