Google Launches Tools for Political Campaigns

Google has just released new YouTube tools for political campaigns. YouTube Campaign Tools are designed to help candidates better deliver thier message and allow for more two-way interaction with voters.

YouChoose 2010 allows any federal or state candidate to apply for a YouTube Politician channel. Google will allow campaigns to brand their political channel, upload longer videos, choose custom thumbnails, and includes Moderator functions and video analytics with YouTube Insight.

Additional paid features allow campaigns to promote videos, add call-to-action overalys and run video in-stream ads during professional programming on YouTube and its partner sites.

Google Campaign Tools features a number of existing Google Apps that campaign staff and volunteers can use to leverage for communication and incorporate into thier campaign websites.

This looks like a great way for candidates to help leverage thier brand online and make the most of online video technology. Even if you are not a federal or state candidate, you can still make use of video and Google apps to enhance your site and reach out to new audiences.
