Great article!

May I add a word of caution to the 'uselessness' of meta keywords: If your opponent is savvy, it can hurt because you've just divulged the keywords that you're trying to rank for to the other candidate!

This is a great idea!

Just adding to it, these sites could be really effective to rank well for certain negatives about the candidate and the opponent.

Say, the candidate was involved in a campaign finance scandal that was misreported and the campaign wants to ensure that voters know the truth. Start a website: www.janedoecampaignfinancescandal.com. Particularly if it's an exact match domain it should rank highly quickly and be able to help correct the record for any voters interested in learning more.

On the other hand, you could use this same technique to rank highly on search terms for the opponent. What if your opponent has a view out of step with the district on guns. Get the domain www.johndoeonguns.com and explain where the opponent stands ranking highly in the SERPs.

Most these tips come down to one thing: make sure that voters can read your campaign sign.

While this may seems like common sense, a lot of campaigns design a sign that that easily read from across the desk at a print shop or from the eyes to the computer screen not from the perspective of a voter driving down the road.

Thomas,
To answer your last question first - Yes, assuming you have control over your domain name accounts, they both can be pointed to a single website. Our blog feature comes with the Regular and Enhanced Packages. You can see exactly how they work in our demo section at http://demo.onlinecandidate.com As you your first question, I'm not sure I know what you mean. You will be able to integrate PayPal (or other payment system) into your site.

I feel pretty confident I'm going to let you guys build my site. I have secured the domain name and I'm setting up a PayPal Account to account for the 60 day window to use funds ASAP once deposited. Question: will Online Candidate establish the links to our primary site when launched?

Also, I want to use the site as a daily blog to upload daily writings to as well as press releases, etc, etc. How user friendly will the site be? I'm using Word Press currently for a Blog I upload to daily. Is it similiar to that?

Finally, I guess it will be easy to direct web traffic from another site I have secured, namely www.cruz-wiggins.com, correct?

Kind regards and thanks for your help,
Thomas Joe Cruz-Wiggins

Had my car wrapped in April of 2010 and drove it everywhere for my campaign. I had my face, name and my title from my previous job "The weatherman" and the office I was running for. Being a broadcast meteorologist for 15 years on TV/radio helped my campaign and the car wrap tied it all together perfectly.
