When using PayPal to create buttons for online donations, you can do more than just create a ‘donate now’ button. With a little creativity, you can raise funds and promote your campaign at the same time!

You already have your campaign signs ordered and delivered. Your volunteer form solicits voters who would like to place a yard signs. But rather than simply ask for volunteers, why not ask them to actually pay for the signs (or t-shirts or pins, etc.)? This serves two purposes. First, it helps defray the cost of supplies. Second, if you price the items somewhat higher than cost, you can use the profit toward other expenses – even additional advertising, perhaps.
How those ‘purchases’ translate into campaign donations depends on your local laws.
Donate Email Payment Links
You can also create email payment links through PayPal that you can use in your email correspondence. This provides a simple way for someone to make a quick donation and maintain an ongoing fund raising drive.
You will want to make sure that these sorts of links are used sparingly, perhaps to close friends or relatives. You don’t want to continually hit up your supporters with donation solicitations. They could also be used in the footer of emails that are sent, making them less obtrusive. If there are any special requirements needed for campaign donations (such as an employer’s name), it might be easier to simply send the visitor to a specified donation page.
